Crew Assistant Internship in Against the Grain Farm

Location: Zionville, North Carolina

Internship Overview:
Located 15 minutes from Boone in Zionville, NC, Against the Grain is a 35-acre diversified farm certified Biodynamic and Organic. We raise vegetables and Animal Welfare Approved, GMO-free, grass-fed beef. Our markets include a weekly farmer's market, a 20-week/115-member CSA, local restaurants, and a food hub.

Farm Crew Position Summary:
We are hiring full-time crew positions for the 2024 season to work with our team. Roles include production assistant, greenhouse assistant, BD and compost assistant, CSA manager, livestock assistant, pack shed coordinator, crop assistant, documentation assistant, and marketing assistant.

Requirements:

  • Minimum one season of experience on a Biodynamic or Organic farm.
  • Passion for agriculture and ability to perform physical labor.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean record.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to the full growing season (February to November).
Compensation and Schedule:
  • Hourly wage starting at $8.50, plus housing, produce, and meat.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm
  • Paid vacation and sick leave.
  • Rotating Sunday chore schedule.
  • Opportunities for additional compensation for market participation.
